How to write the main body of your paper?

The main body of your paper starts from the next page of the title page. Repeat the title here from the title page it should be bold and centered and title cased. Don't write the subtitle with it. The first line of the paper after the title is the start of your introduction paragraph and you don’t need to give the title introduction with it.

Every paragraph should be left-aligned and the first line should be indented by half an inch. To indent the first line, press the tab key.

Section headings are very important because they help organize your paper. They ensure that you answer the question according to its requirements. It helps the professor or any other reader to identify the start and end of every section of your paper.

Section headings should be descriptive but concise. The amount of necessary section headings depends upon the complexity and length of your paper.

In the APA style, there are 5 different levels of section headings. Level 1 heading is the highest level and identifies the major sections of your paper. Level 2 section heading identifies the subsections of level 1 heading. Level 3 would be a subsection of level 2 and so on. All subsection headings use the title case.

Level 1 heading is centered and bold. Level 2 heading is bold and left-aligned. Level 3 heading is bold, left-aligned, and italicized. Level 4 heading is half an inch indented inwards and bold with a period in the end.

Level 5 heading is half-inch indent inwards, bold, and italicized with a period in the end. Although there are 5 levels of section headings, for a student paper you will probably need to use only 3. Do not label the section headings with a number or an alphabet letter.
